Another contest participant, Ruth Ann Rich, is extending her winnings into helping others should she win the IndieMV contest. Her music video for the Art of Dying’s new track, Completely, challenged Rich to push beyond her illnesses and provide her with new hope of reentering a career in acting and directing while tackling public health issues in a desire to draw media attention.
The main reason Rich hopes to win is “to prove to all those [people] out there who have left their dreams behind due to illness that they can still excel in the things that they are passionate about.” For her, winning this contest would be an affirmation of the life and career she’d thought her Crohn’s disease had forced her to abandon years ago. “I would love to see my video get 5000 votes. I know what I lack in experience I make up for with tenacity and passion.” Rich confesses.

Should she achieve this goal, she has offered to donate $100 to 3 charities which are most important to her: the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of American, Advocacy for Chronically Ill Patients, and The Samaritan House (a local Virginia shelter for women and children in crisis)”.

Everyone at memelabs wishes her the best of luck at reaching her goal!

Mitchell Stafiej, a participant for the Card Gone Crazy contest , is on the right track. He has recently announced that should he win the contest, he will donate the $3000 prize money to the Save Darfur Coalition and to help build his site Magic for Darfur (http://www.magicfordarfur.org).

Stafiej has been actively promoting his entry and his site, Magic for Darfur, a non profit organization dedicated to offering aid to the citizens of Darfur in hopes that the organization will grow within the magic community to raise awareness about the crisis and ultimately aid those affected by the genocide.

The Cards Gone Crazy contest asked participants to showcase crazy card games from stunts, tricks, to card creations an is open to votes for one final month before the winners are announced. Participants are encouraged to try any creative means of getting the word out about their submission, and Stafiej’s recent announcement is a great example of encouraging the community to rally behind an entry.

The memelabs team congratulates Stafiej on his amazing incentive and wishes the best of luck to all participants during the upcoming month’s voting spree!
