What Happens When 35-Year-Old Virgins Have Too Much Time Around Easter?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Posted by Jenn Lowther

In keeping with my holiday blogging tradition, I’ve been racking my brain on what to bring you for this Easter - which by the way is one of my favorite holidays, even though the Easter Bunny no longer graces my house. One of my favorite parts of Easter from when I was a kid was sitting in the kitchen with my Mom, Sister, and Granny and decorating eggs. Like most people, as I grew up, this yearly tradition stopped when I became a teen and thought that I was too ‘cool’ to do it any longer. This is what happened to most of us, till we have our own kids and then we get to delight them in all of the Eastery goodness again.

Unfortunately, not everyone grows up and they remain child like…when that happens to someone who has an internet connection, this is what you get:

Angry Easter Egg

Apple Easter Egg

Bender Easter Egg
Bianary Easter Egg

ipod easter egg

star wars easter egg

star wars easter egg 2

This guy couldn’t even get off his computer long enough to use a real egg!

evil easter egg

world of warcraft easter egg

yoda easter egg

Video of the Week - March 19, 2008

We have a nice short week this week - yay easter! Now instead of choosing an obvious Easter themed video this week, I’ve decided to go with the most epic rickroll to date. I’ve had the pleasure of being rickrolled a few times and have done it to a few unexpecting friends as well - Dario even rickrolled my jog by adding Rick Astley to my iphone playlist, but nothing even starts to compare to this one. The guys at RocketBoom wanted to get back at Next New Networks founder Tim Shey for Rick Rolling him. Now to take it a step further, he did it IRL using a singing telegram - genius! You can read the whole story here. My favorite part is when they start to sing along to the song.

Well done, Miss Lowther. Well done. But from my perspective, that video was indeed in the spirit of Easter. Rick Rolling in the office place? They took that exec to CHURCH!

Now I am going to head in another direction. To all things unholy. Spoiled 16-year old Malibu harlets. This video features why giving your teenaged daughter a tiara is like shooting yourself in the foot. This also supports my mandate for OC tweens to beat it (unless you are Adam Brody). Heart.

Memelabs is proud to showcase a creative new competition from Texas Instruments designed to tap into the brightest ideas and minds of all technology enthusiasts.

TI’s “Vision for Voice” contest is looking for individuals to submit a short video that demonstrates their creativity, knowledge and vision for the future of voice technology. Do you imagine improving voice in an already existing product? Maybe you have an idea for a brand new product that uses voice technology in a way that no one has ever thought of before. Does your refrigerator talk to you? Would you like it to? How about your doorbell or your shoe? Go crazy; be inventive, innovative, and imaginative. The sky’s the limit!

Take a look at the newest contest here at memelabs and enter your creative thoughts on VoIP for your chance to win a Home Theater System or a Slacker personal internet radio player.

The contest is now open to submissions and will close on May 13, 2008.

Have You Noticed the Changes?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

We’ve updated memelabs! I’m not going to say that we’ve redesigned the site, but we’ve given it a nice fresh face - think botox over facelift. I’d like to thank James for giving meme it’s shiny new image. We’ve also made the site navigation easier and more intuitive for users.

We have refocused the homepage from the latest videos to more prominently showcase our active branded video contests. We currently have four video contests active - Gallery Furniture, Garden State Life, the Little Penguin, and our newest contest that we’ve just launched - Texas Instruments Vision for Voice. Check out the contests, take a look around, and let us know what you think about the changes.
