Play it Safe, Eat Organic
SPUD stands for Small Potatoes Urban Delivery. They’re an organic grocery delivery company providing local, organic and ethical grocery options in some major Canadian cities. When SPUD came to us looking for a unique marketing strategy, we designed a viral marketing video contest to suit their needs.

SPUD’s contest slogan is Play Safe, Eat Organic. The challenge? For filmmakers to create a video, 60 seconds or less in length, delivering that message while promoting organic grocery delivery. The SPUD contest has two prizes, each equal to $1,000 in organic SPUD groceries delivered right to your door. The first prize is awarded to the video with the most votes at the end of the voting period, while the second is awarded to the Judges’ Choice - the video which the Judges choose as fitting SPUD’s message, technical requirements and image best.

We promoted the contest with a video of our own; the message was clear - with the extra time you’ll save ordering your organic groceries online, you’ll have more time for fun. We challenged SPUD’s customers to do the same.
The Play Safe, Eat Organic contest ended on February 28th, 2007. SPUD awarded prizes to two amazing, inspired videos. The People’s Choice prize went to Sian Thompson for his video, Good Morning, while the Judges’ Choice prize went to Margaret Hanson for her amazing stop-motion tribute to SPUD with Vegetable Friends.
