We are all about holiday themes here and amidst bbq’s and beaches, we are always on the look out for some breakthrough video’s. To stay within our theme, I present my 4th of July inspired video by the self-proclaimed great American Hero, Kanye West in his take on infomercials. My favorite part: The Drunk Girl. I have no doubt that Mr. America casted her himself as he threw away his tax forms while flexing in the mirror and kissing his Versace adorned biceps.

As Jenn is busy on all things social, we have truced yet again to showcase one piece as our collective favorite. And as we continue to exemplify effective democratic process, we would like to take this time to showcase democracy in action. Happy Independence Day.

Another contest participant, Ruth Ann Rich, is extending her winnings into helping others should she win the IndieMV contest. Her music video for the Art of Dying’s new track, Completely, challenged Rich to push beyond her illnesses and provide her with new hope of reentering a career in acting and directing while tackling public health issues in a desire to draw media attention.
The main reason Rich hopes to win is “to prove to all those [people] out there who have left their dreams behind due to illness that they can still excel in the things that they are passionate about.” For her, winning this contest would be an affirmation of the life and career she’d thought her Crohn’s disease had forced her to abandon years ago. “I would love to see my video get 5000 votes. I know what I lack in experience I make up for with tenacity and passion.” Rich confesses.

Should she achieve this goal, she has offered to donate $100 to 3 charities which are most important to her: the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of American, Advocacy for Chronically Ill Patients, and The Samaritan House (a local Virginia shelter for women and children in crisis)”.

The IndieMV contest plot thickens as entrants are beginning to seek out their own personal advertising campaign for their video’s!

Recent participant for the Devin Nunns of George, South Africa, is starting along his walk to fame after getting written up in his local paper. After stumbling across the IndieMV, but is ready to go to all lengths to inspire the voters to watch and vote for his work. He’s on the right track… everyone at Memelabs wish him the best and good luck to all entrants!

The contest will remain open until 50 submissions are received.

We’ve gotten a couple of submissions for the IndieMV contest but we can’t start uploading videos and allowing votes til we get a bit more competition - so hurry and get your video in! The earlier you submit your video, the longer users can vote on it, so you’ll have a better chance of winning.

Don’t rely on that completely, though - all of the top videos for Wind Blows were submitted after the first few videos hit the threshold, and Chasing Hamilton was submitted as one of the last videos to enter the contest.

Remember - a brand new Macbook is yours if you can garner the most votes for your video for Art of Dying’s new song, Completely.
