Memelabs representative Nadia Nascimento says, “This way they [AOD] are actually getting people who are filmmakers or who haven’t heard of them,” and adds that the contest is a chance for budding videomakers to get some exposure as well.

The Straight’s Jon Braun gives readers the facts: “The maker of the top-rated video will win a MacBook computer. Nine other runner-ups have a chance at Canon digital video recorders, CDs, and T-shirts. The contest is already open and will close 60 days after the 50th entrant has submitted a video.”

The three teenaged filmmakers behind Wind Blows’ Chasing Hamilton have hit the news again, this time in Arizona’s AZCentral paper. Memelabs’ own Dario Meli is also quoted, and the hot new upcoming Memelabs contest for IndieMV’s Art of Dying is profiled in the end of the article.

AZCentral’s article says about Memelabs’ Art of Dying contest, “The company’s virtual-video contest will cross over into the music world, where the rock band Art of Dying will ask people for video submissions for one of their songs.”

The boys behind Chasing Hamilton still have a few days left to vault to the top spot in the contest. Good luck to all entrants.

Wind Blows’ Chasing Hamilton Hits the News

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Posted by Nadia Nascimento

Arizona’s East Valley Tribune published an article this week on three ambitious high school seniors who created a 60-second video about the power of wind for Memelabs’ Wind Blows. The video, Chasing Hamilton, ranked fourth place at the time of the article; however, while this is no simple achievement, fourth place won’t get them the gold.

Bryan Koepplinger, Nicholas Ramirez and Yousef Hawash have stated that if they do win the $10,000 prize, they’ll be putting it away for college. The article, penned by Tammy Krikorian, features a catchy byline: “Ask three students from Gilbert’s Mesquite High School what ‘wind blows’ mean to them, and they won’t hesitate to tell you: $10,000.”

While here at Memelabs and Western Wind Energy we try to promote a higher sense of purpose, we weren’t surprised that many of our contestants - including the young trio behind Chasing Hamilton - did it for the cash. Aptly enough, Chasing Hamilton features Koepplinger chasing a stray dollar bill blown by the theme subject, wind power.
